John Nash of Marina Facility Solutions has been campaigning for some time to encourage Croatian marinas to install pump out systems to help keep the sea clean.

Euromarina reports on its visit to Marina Preko in its February 2009 edition and explains how John helped Marina Preko with their installation. We reproduce the text below (copyright Euromarina). Situated right in the middle of the stunningly beautiful Dalmatian Coast on the island of Ugljan, Marina Preko has easy access to other anchorages in Croatian waters, providing a wonderful location for ‘island hopping’. It offers secure mooring with a minimum depth of 2 m in the small town of Preko on the North-East facing coast of the island and offers 87 berths for craft up to 20 m, together with three exclusive berths for transient superyachts up to 60 m.A CCTV system provides 24-hour security.

The marina is easy to access 24 hours a day in all weather conditions and the on-site marina ofﬁce can be contacted by calling ‘Marina Preko’ on VHF Channel 17. Many additional facilities are provided within the cost of the mooring fees, including laundry facilities,Wi-ﬁ access, water, electricity and refuse disposal.

There is a modern shower block for berth holders and visitors to use before trying Preko’s nearby restaurants and bars. A supermarket and other shops, including a regular local fruit and vegetable market, are located within 50 metres of the marina. Other facilities include a bank and regular bus and ferry service.

The marina is just a short ferry ride from the mainland port of Zadar, which is just four kilometres away by water. A frequent ferry service runs between the island and the mainland.

The nearest airport is at Zadar, a short taxi ride up the mainland coast, with regular connections to main European airports. Marina Preko is within easy cruising distance of Italy’s Adriatic coastline and can be reached by car from central Europe.

Experienced yachtsmen describe Preko as the ‘Jewel in the Crown’ of the beautiful Dalmatian waters and endorse that throughout the islands of the Kornati National Park, it offers some of the best sailing to be found anywhere in the world.

Cruising the Dalmatian coast has to be the experience of a lifetime, with its breathtaking scenery and crystal clear waters.To arrive in Marina Preko through the islands from one of the more distant ports of Dubrovnik, Split or even further aﬁeld is described as a rare treat.

Keeping waters crystal clear
Much has been made about Croatia’s crystal clear waters and it is to be hoped that they stay that way for generations to come. However, if that is to be achieved, the country needs more enlightened marinas such as Marina Preko, which has installed one of the first integrated pump-out systems in Croatia.

Although the Croatian government has passed legislation on the dumping of marine waste, few marinas offer much more than the possibility of arranging a tanker on request. It’s therefore not easy for leisure sailors to dispose of the waste in an ecologically-friendly manner and so, unfortunately, much of it is still dumped at sea.

Marina Preko management talked to John Nash of Marina Facility Solutions, based near Split, at an early stage of the marina’s development plans and, with the help of pump-out specialist Lee Sanitation, which John represents in Croatia, came up with the perfect solution for Marina Preko.

For most of the five years he has spent in Croatia, John has been endeavouring to encourage marina owners to install integrated pump-out systems more widely.“Not only are they essential to the sustainability of first class nautical tourism in
Croatia, but the cost is more affordable than many marina owners believe,” explained John. “Most ethically and ecologically-minded nautical tourists value the service and have no objection to paying marinas a fair price for using the system.”

After studying the details of the installation, Gary Sutcliffe, Operations Director of LeeSan, specified the new LeeStrom LS60W pump-out unit, which is capable of pumping 60 l/min with its 750W motor. This unit offers a suction height of up to 6 m (pressure height 15 m) with a horizontal discharge of up to 120 m. Connections are inlet 1½ inch hose and discharge 2 inch.

The system is connected to the town of Preko’s new sewage network, which was developed just two years ago. Presently, there are about 50 marinas in Croatia serving 320 charter companies, offering over 2,600 vessels in their fleets. If this is added to several thousands of leisure sailors arriving in their private vessels and sailing along the Adriatic coast, it is easy to come to the conclusion that sea pollution from vessels is significant.

Although Government regulations for years now have been requiring that marinas should provide organised disposal of waste waters, to prevent their disposal into the sea, thereby further protecting the sea quality, unfortunately not all marinas can pride themselves that they offer such a se Since a large percentage of the GDP originates from nautical tourism, where crystal clear sea is still being offered as the main attraction of sailing along the Croatian coast, this advantage needs to be preserved.The fact is that many sailors still do not request this service, simply because they are not familiar enough with its availability in marinas. Most charter vessels have waste-water tanks, but because of the impossibility of pumping out the contents at places provided for this on shore, they empty their tanks into the sea.

Led by ecological awareness, the country now wants to develop its marinas to meet the world’s highest standards, particularly preserving the quality of sea water. However, such awareness needs to be developed with all marinas so that it becomes a standard service.

Jeff Houlgrave, Operations Director of Jupiter Adria, who is in charge of the Marina Sector, comments: “By introducing this service not only will we decrease sea pollution, but also support a sustainable development and improve the Croatian tourist experience, making it an ecologically aware nautical destination”.

Nadamo se da trenutna ekonomska situacija ne utječe na poslovanje vaše marine i da, osim zabavljanja svojih gostiju, razmišljate i o planovima zimskih radova, poboljšanja i unaprjeđenja.

LeeStrom Pump-Out Systems: s posebnim zadovoljstvom primili smo narudžbe za još dvije nove jedinice za ispumpavanje, iz marina Punat i Hramina, pored fiksne jedinice koja je već ugrađena i radi u Marini Preko. Od ove dvije nove jedinice, jedna ima dizel motor a druga jednofazni elektromotor, s pumpama kapaciteta 300 odnosno 100 l/m. Opremljene su spremnicima različitih veličina i različitom opcionalnom opremom, u skladu sa svojim posebnim potrebama.
Marine i lučke uprave koje ozbiljno razmišljaju o ugradnji sustava za ispumpavanje sa zadovoljstvom ćemo posjetiti i s njima porazgovarati o njihovim potrebama, te ponuditi razne opcije i procjene.
Isto tako ozbiljno razmišljamo o sklapanju i, pod uvjetom dovoljne potražnje, proizvodnji ovih jedinica u Hrvatskoj.

Ove godine ćemo po drugi put izlagati na sajmu Zagreb Sport and Boat Show. Radujemo se vašem posjetu i razgovoru o vašim posebnim potrebama, nadajući se da ćemo vam pomoći našom širokom ponudom stranih proizvoda.

MFS isporučio Marini Preko jedinicu za ispumpavanje otpadnih voda

Možda ste već pročitali u lokalnim novinama ili poslovnim časopisima da je MFS isporučio svoju prvu jedinicu za ispumpavanje otpadnih voda nekoj hrvatskoj marini. Marina Preko je kupila i ugradila pumpu Lee Strom LS60, s poslovanjem pomoću žetona. Izuzetno nam je drago što smo Marini Preko pomogli napraviti ovaj razboriti pionirski potez, i nadamo se da će i druge marine u ovome vidjeti put naprijed - uslugu koju će vaši klijenti cijeniti (i platiti!), snažan znak ekološke vrijednosti vaše marine i bitan korak naprijed za hrvatski nautički turizam. MFS kroz svoju hrvatsku tvrtku isporučio ACI Dubrovnik i Luci Rovinj Rolec Services Energy Master

Marini ACI Dubrovnik (pored uređaja koji su već ugrađene u Skradinu) i Luci Rovinj isporučeni su uređaji s plaćanjem unaprijed Rolec Services Energymaster. Korist ovih uređaja je servisiranje velike tranzitne flote u ljetnim mjesecima. Uređaji imaju razne izlazne kapacitete, do 125A, 3 faze odnosno 63A, 3 faze, nudeći lak način isporuke, upravljanja i naplate struje i vode.

Croatia Cruising Companion - Nezaobilazan nautički vodič po Jadranu na engleskom jeziku

Naš Croatia Cruising Companion je prvi put promoviran na Earls Court Boat Show u Londonu, u studenom prošle godine. Prošlog mjeseca bili smo pozvan da ga prezentiramo u novoj splitskoj knjižnici. Knjiga se postigla velik uspjeh u Velikoj Britaniji i svijetu. Zagrebački sajam sporta i nautike, 20.-24. veljače 2008

Ovo je naša šesta godina u Hrvatskoj, u nadi još jedne uspješne godine za svih.
U vezi Marine Facility Solutions ima mnogo novoga:

Novi izložbeni prostor - svoj štand ćemo imati na Zagrebačkom sajmu sporta i nautike, 20.‑24. veljače. Naš štand je broj 32 u hali 8. Očekujemo vaš posjet radi razgledanja i razgovora o našem međunarodnom programu proizvoda kao i o dodatnim rješenjima ključ-u-ruke koje nudimo novim objektima.

Novo hrvatsko trgovačko društvo - podrška lokalnim poslovima.

Novosti o opremi

Walcon Pontoons: Clive Kemp, komercijalni direktor, biti će na našem štandu na raspolaganju za razgovor o posebnim pitanjima o Walconovim vodećim projektima i opremi za marine, lučice i suhe vezove širom svijeta.

Rolec Services: Za nama je još jedna godina uspješnog plasiranja Rolecove opreme. Posebno, njihovi priključni ormarići s mogućnošću plaćanja unaprijed ugrađeno su u marinama ACI Skradin i ACI Dubrovnik, novo usmjerenje za hrvatske marine. Rolec ima i novu brošuru svoje opreme i usluga.

Lee Sanitation: Potpuno novi program opcija LeeStorm Pump-Out, proizvedenih u Njemačkoj i ponuđenih po vrlo povoljnim cijenama. Gary Sutcliffe, tehnički direktor, biti će na našem štandu i sa zadovoljstvom će porazgovarati s vama o raznim opcijama ponuđenih brodskih sanitarnih pumpi i tankova koji vam osiguravaju praktičnost, pored ekoloških dobitaka iz korištenja ovakvih metoda zadržavanja otpada.

Wise Handling: Wise je stekao zavidan ugled na području rješavanja problema u vezi rukovanja plovilima, što god vaše rukovanje plovilima zahtijeva - transportne dizalice kapaciteta 20-80 tona, dizalice za navoze 20-80 tona, transporteri plovila 10-200 tona.

Vermeer Yacht Line: Vermeer je integrirao sustave hidrauličnih dizalica, transportera i nosača kapaciteta 10-30 tona.

Rujan 2007

2007. godine bili smo prilično zaposleni, naročito na izgradnji novih marina. Nadamo se da je ova godina bila jednako uspješna i vama. Stoga smo, nažalost, imali manje vremena za posjete vama i praćenje vaših novosti. Vi se, međutim, ne ustručavajte kontaktirati nas ako razmišljate o bilo kakvim poboljšanjima, zamjenama ili novim proizvodima i uslugama u marinama, kako bismo mogli nastaviti pružati vam optimalna rješenja po najkonkurentnijim cijenama.

British Marine Federation/TYHA je izdala novi Pravilnik koji će biti vrlo bitan novim investitorima i vlasnicima marina zainteresiranima za nove trendove u projektiranju marina u EU. Kao predstavnici TYHA u Hrvatskoj, možemo vam pružiti detaljne informacije o onome što TYHA može pružiti hrvatskim marinama kao i o značajnim beneficijama članstva. Članstvo među marinama u Turskoj, Nizozemskoj, Australiji i mnogim drugim prekomorskim zemljama raste, a mi smatramo da bi bolja zastupljenost hrvatskih marina na međunarodnoj razini, putem članstva u TYHA, dovelo do značajnih izravnih i neizravnih koristi.

Lee Sanitation - Sustavi za ispumpavanje: udružili su se s jednom njemačkom tvrtkom, što im je omogućilo snabdijevanje većeg tržišta, sve više svjesnog potrebe i prednosti ovog ekološkog odgovora na problem zagađivanja mora. Proizvodi su unaprijeđeni, a, kao rezultat veće prodaje i smanjenih troškova prijevoza, možemo vam ih ponuditi po još povoljnijim cijenama. Molimo da nas kontaktirate u vezi novog proizvodnog programa i cijena.

Walcon Marine - pontoni: još uvijek radimo na rješenju troškova dostave njihovih 2,5 m širokih pontona na ovo područje, ali sa zadovoljstvom potvrđujemo nedavni lokalni interes za njihove pontone širine 2 m. Ove možemo ponuditi, s okvirima bilo od galvaniziranog čelika ili aluminija, po vrlo konkurentnim cijenama.

Rolec Services: uspjeh Rolecovih proizvoda u Hrvatskoj se nastavlja ugradnjom njihovih standardnih ormarića s priključcima, izrađenih od Foamex pjene, u ACI Marini Rab, sustava prodaje s plaćanjem unaprijed u ACI Marini Skradin, te standardnih ormarića s priključcima od nehrđajućeg čelika, s pojedinačno mjerenim i jačim elektro priključcima, u Le Meridianovoj Marini Lav.

Wise Handling - travel-liftovi: sve su popularniji širom svijeta, konkurentnih cijena, s najnovijim tržišnim unaprjeđenjima.

Vermeer - hidraulične dizalice: kapacitet dizalica iz novog programa FH je povećan na 20 t, dok se ugradnja prve YCR dizalice u 10 t verziji u Hrvatskoj očekuje početkom iduće godine.

Biograd Boat and Charter Show 2006: Sa zadovoljstvom vas obavještavamo da će Marina Facility Solutions imati svoj stand na ovom sajmu, od 19.-22. listopada. Biti će nam drago ako se tamo sretnemo i porazgovaramo o vašim posebnim potrebama kao i o novim proizvodima koje ovog časa nude naši glavni snabdjevači, Walcon Marine, Rolec Services, Wise Handling, Lee Sanitation i Vermeer Cranes, kao i ova grana industrije u cijelosti.

Marine koje brinu o svojim gostima: I dalje tražimo isporučitelje opreme za koju vjerujemo da zanima hrvatske marine. Marine zainteresirane za pružanje pomoći invalidnim jedriličarima mogle bi biti zainteresirane za dizalicu koja omogućava lak pristup na plovila. Isto tako, još uvijek nudimo kolica Ace koja gostima pomažu u dostavi opreme i hrane na njihove brodove. Jedan novi proizvod kojega smo uspješno plasirali na tržište je materijal za bokobrane, dizajniran u obliku slova D, otporan na udarce i s povoljnom cijenom, u crnoj i bijeloj boji, za zaštitu trupova brodova od šteta u marini.

Članstvo u The Yacht Harbour Association? TYHA je proaktivna organizacija koja usko surađuje s marinama, sa svojim članovima u Velikoj Britaniji, Tajlandu, Australiji, Nizozemskoj, Turskoj, a sada i Olive Island Marina u Hrvatskoj. Među pogodnostima su tromjesečni časopis Trade News, tečajevi iz upravljanja marinama (s međunarodno priznatim kvalifikacijama) koji se održavaju periodično, s posebnim cijenama za članove, zastupanje na međunarodnim nautičkim sajmovima i povoljne ulaznice, nagrada TYHA Golden Anchor Award, te Berth Search - online oglašavanje vaših slobodnih vezova međunarodnom tržištu.

Za vrijeme našeg boravka u Hrvatskoj, naučili smo da je ključ uspjeha širina ponude. Početkom ove godine usko smo surađivali sa svjetski poznatom izdavačkom kućom Time Out Publishing Group koja je izdala časopis i vodič Time Out Visitor's Guide to Croatia. Časopis za 2007/8 će izaći u svibnju iduće godine, a mi ćemo opet priložiti naše članke i turističkoj industriji ponuditi marketinške mogućnosti. Časopis se distribuira u Velikoj Britaniji, SAD, Irskoj, Australiji, Francuskoj te širom Hrvatske, s prednošću Time Outove vjerne čitalačke publike koji vole putovati i mudro trošiti svoj naporno zarađeni novac. Iduće izdanje će donijeti i najmanje jedan članak o jedrenju u Hrvatskoj.

Ljeto 2006.

Nakon uspješnog Croatia Boat Showa i plodne zime, nadamo se da su svi u ovoj grani gospodarstva na vrijeme izradili svoje programe održavanja i obnavljanja opreme za turističku sezonu koja obećava biti dobra i duga. Sretno i onima koji nisu izravno uključeni u turizam - graditeljima plovila i novim marinama - gdje se radovi nastavljaju nešto drugačijim sezonskim korakom.

Sa zadovoljstvom vas obavještavamo da je naša osnovna djelatnost, isporuka opreme za marine opet bila uspješna s dvije najnovije hrvatske marine, Mandalina i Olive Island, koje su se opredijelile za energetske ormariće Rolec Services. Uspješne ugovore smo sklopili i s nekim prestižnim hotelskim kompleksima.

Posebno nam je drago vidjeti da je marljivi rad marine Olive Island napokon stigao do donošenja ploda. MFS surađuje intenzivno na ovom projektu još od početka 2004. godine, kada smo bili uključeni u projektiranje, specificiranje i procjenu opreme. Sada sa zadovoljstvom objavljujemo da smo marinu Olive Island učlanili u The Yacht Harbour Association kao prvu hrvatsku marinu, članicu ove udruge.

MFS je bio proaktivan i pisanjem uredničkog uvodnika i predstavljanjem hrvatskih turističkih firmi za prestižni časopis Time Out - Visitors Guide to Croatia, koji će se prodavati širom svijeta do kraja kolovoza. Naši kontakti koji su iskoristili priliku oglašavanja prema jednoj novoj klijentskoj bazi vrlo su zadovoljni rezultatima. Ako ste propustili prvu priliku, u listopadu će biti još jedna.

Kao što je bilo predviđeno još 2004. godine, Vlada Republike Hrvatske radi na primjeni pravila Europske unije u vezi postupanja s otpadom i ostacima tereta s plovila, pri čemu izgleda da se slijedi britanski model. Aktivno smo bili uključeni u praktičnu primjenu ovih propisa u Ujedinjenom Kraljevstvu 1999., postupno smo upoznati s pravilima i propisima te i dalje pružamo savjete, uključujući i specifikacije nabavke odgovarajuće opreme pored Pump-Out sustava i brodskih otpadnih tankova. Usko surađujemo s tvrtkom Lee Sanitation, koja je već savjetovala više europskih vlada, poslovnih udruga, pojedinih marina i luka te isporučila širok dijapazon rješenja kojima se ispunjavaju međunarodno uvedeni propisi.

Za potrebe brodograđevne industrije, od nas je zatraženo da predstavimo i plasiramo BigHead Bonding Fasteners, cijenom vrlo pristupačan i široko upotrebljiv sustav spojnica od inoksa za korištenje u brodogradnji. Molimo da nas kontaktirate u vezi daljnjih informacija i detalja.

Sajam Biograd Boat and Charter Show 2005: Sa zadovoljstvom objavljujemo da će Marina Facility Solutions imati svoj štand na ovogodišnjem sajmu u Biogradu, 20.‑23. listopada. Bilo bi nam drago sresti se s vama i porazgovarati kako o vašim posebnim potrebama tako i o ovoj grani gospodarstva općenito.
Lee Sanitation: Hoće li ovo biti godina sustava za ispumpavanje tankova otpadnih voda? Firma Lee Sanitation je još proširila svoj dijapazon sustava i kapaciteta, u kojemu je sada i uređaj Dual Unit, sposoban ispumpavati kako sivu otpadnu vodu tako i vodu zagađenu uljem. Firma nudi i cjeloviti program opreme i pribora potrebnih za brodske otpadne tankove.
Rolec Services: Nadziranje i upravljanje snabdijevanjem strujom i vodom postaju važna tema razgovora. U Rolecu su uvjereni da s raznim opcijama koje su u stanju isporučiti mogu zadovoljiti i vaše specifične potrebe. Povećanje posjeta većih plovila hrvatskim vodama povećao je zanimanje za trofazne električne priključke. Do sada najveća isporuka Rolecovih ormarića s priključcima u Hrvatskoj izvršena je NCP-Marini u Mandalini, izlaznog kapaciteta 250A, tri faze.
Wise Handling: Isporukom 50-tonske dizalice s upravljanjem putem sva četiri točka i opcijom daljinskog upravljanja, Wise je još jednom dokazao svoju konkurentnost u Hrvatskoj. Kao što rastu zahtjevi električnih kapaciteta, tako u marinama i brodogradilištima rastu potrebe i za sve većim dizalicama, a mi smo uvjereni u kvalitet izrade i konkurentnost cijena Wiseovih proizvoda.
British Marine Federation/TYHA: TYHA je upravo oglasila tečaj iz upravljanja marinama, srednjeg stupnja, koji će se održati u Velikoj Britaniji 14.-17. veljače 2006. Ako su vam potrebne daljnje informacije o ovome, kao i o pristupanju TYHA, molimo da nas kontaktirate.
Ocean International: Pušten je na tržište novi sustav WiFi za alarm i nadzor plovila, koji omogućava vlasniku plovila nadzor nad svojim plovilom putem interneta.
Vermeer: Svom programu transportera dodali su još jednog. Projektiran za neravne terene, s posebnim nosačem plovila, i opcijom upravljanja putem sva četiri točka, kapaciteta 20 t.

Pored gore navedenoga, i dalje zastupamo: Walcon Marine - pontoni, Taylor Fuel - dvostjenski uređaji za skladištenje i pretakanje goriva, The Yacht Leg and Cradle - nosači za plovila, i Ace Equipment - kolica za prtljag i teret.

Happy New Year.

We can offer three methods of Lee Strom Pump-Out systems that you might wish to consider as a means of resolving your marinas sewage and black water pump-out requirements.

Mobile Units can be used individually for either black or bilge water and both if fitted with hydrocarbon pump seals. Of the fixed units the LS60 series can be utilised for either and the LS160W-B both black and bilge water.

In addition, for each type of unit, we can offer variations in capacity of holding tank, pump capacity and voltages, suction pipe lengths and pre payment methods to suit your particular requirements. Likewise the design and supply of a multi point pump out system.

Hopefully the current economic climate is not affecting your marina business and at present, besides entertaining your guests, you might now be considering your winter’s works program, improvements and upgrades.

LeeStrom Pump-Out Systems: we are delighted to have received additional orders for 2 new mobile pump-out units from Marinas Punat and Hramina in addition to the fixed unit already installed and operating at Marina Preko. Of the new units one has a diesel drive the other a single phase electric motor, with pump capacities of 300 and 100 l/m respectively. Both have different sized tanks and various additional unit options to suit their particular requirements.
For those Marinas and Port Authorities seriously considering installing a Pump-out system we would be happy to visit and discuss your requirements, and provide various options and estimates for your consideration.
We are likewise seriously considering assembly and with sufficient demand the manufacture of these units locally.

Rolec Services have added to their current pedestal design with the launch of their Seawave range of units. As with the current Spinnaker, Classic, Roline, Ocean and Mega-Yacht units the options available for monitoring and controlling electric and water consumption are numerous. Zagreb Boat Show: 18th -22nd February 2009

MFS’s Croatian company supplies Rolec Services EnergyMaster To ACI Dubrovnik and the Port of Rovinj

Rolec Services Energymaster pre-payment units have now been delivered to ACI Dubrovnik (in addition to units already installed at Skradin) and the Port of Rovinj. The benefit of these units is in serving the large transit fleet during the summer months. The units are of various outlet capacities, up to 125A 3ph and 63A 3ph respectively, offering an easy method of supply, management and payment for both electricity and water.

2007 has been an especially busy year for us, particularly on new marina developments, and we hope it has been equally successful for you. British Marine Federations/TYHA: have issued a New Code of Practice that will be highly relevant to new developers and marina operators interested in the latest EU marina design and facility trends.. As TYHA’s Croatian representative, we can provide you with full details of what TYHA can offer to the Croatian Marina Industry and the considerable advantages of membership. Membership amongst marinas in Turkey, Holland, Australia and several other overseas countries, is increasing, and we believe that better representation of Croatian marinas at international level, via individual membership of TYHA, would result in considerable direct and indirect benefits.

LeeSanitation- Pump - Out Systems: have now teamed up with a German company enabling them to supply to a larger market increasingly aware of the necessity and advantages of this eco friendly answer to sea pollution. The units themselves have been updated and, as a result of the volume of sales and reduced transport costs, we are able to offer even better prices. Biograd Boat and Charter Show 2006: We are pleased to announce that Marina Facility Solutions will have a Stand at the forthcoming Boat Show from the 19th-22nd October. Customer Friendly Marinas: We still continue to seek out equipment suppliers we believe might be of interest to the Croatian Marina Industry. Marinas interested in assisting Disabled Sailors may be interested in a crane to enable easy access onto vessels. Likewise we still offer Ace Trolleys to assist your clients transport kit and food to their boats. A new product we have successfully marketed is a competitively priced high impact “D” section fender material in white or black to protect the hulls of boats against damage around a marina.

Membership of The Yacht Harbour Association? TYHA is a pro-active organization working closely with the marina industries with members in the UK, Thailand, Australia, Holland, Turkey and now Olive Island Marina here in Croatia. Some of the benefits include a quarterly Trade News magazine, Marina Management Courses (with internationally accepted qualifications) held periodically with beneficial rates for members, representation at International Boat Shows and preferential entrance rates, TYHA Golden Anchor Award scheme, and Berth Search - an online means of advertising your availability of berths to an international audience.

We have learnt during our time here in Croatia that diversity is the key to success. Earlier this year we worked closely with the internationally reknowned Time Out Publishing Group who produced a Time Out Visitors’ Guide to Croatia magazine and Guide Book. The 2007/8 Visitors Guide will be published next April and we will again be contributing articles and offering marketing opportunities for the tourism industry. The magazine is distributed in the UK, USA, Ireland, Australia, France and throughout Croatia, and has the advantage of a loyal Time Out readership who like to travel and spend their hard-earned money wisely. The forthcoming magazine will include at least one feature on sailing Croatia.

After a successful Croatia Boat Show and a productive winter we hope that everyone involved in the industry has completed their maintenance and renewal programs in time for what promises to be a good and extended tourist season. Good luck also, to those not directly involved with tourism - boat building and new marina builds - where work continues at a different seasonal pace.

We are pleased to report that our core business of supplying marina equipment has again been successful with Croatia’s latest 2 marina developments, Mandalina and Olive Island choosing Rolec Services bollards. Likewise successful contracts at some prestigious Hotel complexes.
We are particularly pleased to see Olive Island Marina’s hard work has finally come to fruition. MFS have worked closely on this project as far back as the beginning of 2004, when we were involved in the design, equipment schedules and estimates. Now we are pleased to announce that we have recruited Olive Island Marina as the first Croatian member of The Yacht Harbour Association.

MFS have also been pro active in providing editorial, and introducing Croatian Companies involved in the Tourist Industry to the prestigious Time Out – Visitors Guide to Croatia magazine, on sale internationally until late Autumn. Those of our contacts who took the opportunity to advertise to a new international customer base have so far been very pleased with the results. If you missed out the first time, there will be another opportunity in October.

As forecast back in 2004, your Government is working towards implementing the EU Regulations for the “Handling of Waste and Cargo remains from Vessels” and appear to be following the UK system. We were actively involved with the practical implementation of these regulations in the UK in 1999, are fully conversant with the rules and regulations, and continue to offer guidance, including the specification and procurement of the appropriate equipment in addition to Pump-Out systems and onboard holding tanks. We work closely with Lee Sanitation, who have advised a number of European Governments, Trade Associations, individual marinas and ports and supply a wide range of solutions to meet the regulations as they are implemented internationally.

For the Boat Building Industry we have been asked to introduce and market BigHead Bonding Fasteners, a very cost efficient and versatile stainless steel fastening system used in boat building. For further information and detail please contact us.

With a new season approaching and just a little time for thought and reflection, we’ve put together a checklist to resolve some of last year’s headaches, before the new season begins.

Biograd Boat and Charter Show 2005: We are pleased to announce that Marina Facility Solutions will have a Stand at the forthcoming Boat Show from the 20th-23rd October. We look forward to seeing you and discussing your particular requirements and the industry in general.
Lee Sanitation: Will this be the year for Pump-Out systems? Lee San have further extended their range of systems and capacity, now including a Dual Unit, capable of pumping out both grey and oil contaminated bilge water. They also offer the full range of equipment and accessories required for boat holding tanks.
Rolec Services: The monitoring and control of electrical and water supplies are becoming a serious topic of conversation. Rolec are confident that, with the various options they are able to supply, they can provide for your specific requirements. Likewise the interest in providing 3 phase power capacity is increasing as larger boats visit Croatian waters. The current largest capacity Rolec bollard in Croatia has been supplied to NCP-Marina Mandalina, with an electric outlet capacity of 250A 3ph.
Wise Handling: Wise have again proved their competitiveness with another supply to Croatia – a 50t, 4-wheel steer, remote control hoist option. As with the increase in electric capacity requirements, the requirement by marinas and boat build/repair facilities for larger hoists is increasing and we are confident of the quality of manufacture and competitive pricing of Wise units.
British Marine Federation/TYHA: TYHA are at present advertising a Residential Intermediate Marina Management Course from the 14th-17th February 2006 in the UK. If you require more information on this subject or on joining the Association, please contact us.
Ocean International: have a newly released WiFi boat alarm and monitoring system available that enables a boat owner to monitor his vessel via the internet.
Vermeer: have added a new transporter to their product range. Designed for rough terrain with a special cradle, four and two wheel steer options available, with a capacity of 20t.

In addition to the above, we continue to represent: Walcon Marine – pontoons, Taylor Fuel – double skinned storage and dispense units, The Yacht Leg and Cradle – boat supports, and Ace Equipment – courtesy trolleys.

For your convenience it is in both Croatian and English and will assist you in your search to resolve your particular equipment needs. Please add it to your “Favourites”. The site will be periodically updated with new ranges from our existing manufacturers and additional companies wishing to utilise our services.

Rolec Services: are very excited and optimistic about the venture with Omron, which will see the development of a new generation of systems exclusively for the Rolec Novo Master range, including lower priced Novo Energymaster/Timemaster systems, the new Novo Berthmaster system, allowing the Marina Operator complete control of the marina berths’ electrical and water services. The office based computer will have the ability to individually switch on/off every electrical socket and water tap on the marina. The system that we believe most suits the modern day marina is Novo Smartmaster - the new system allows the marina operator to issue the berth holder with their very own Smartcard, a part of the new generation of proximity type systems.
Nautika Magazine: January’s issue of Nautika included a two page article by me concerning the installation of Pump-Out systems in Croatia. Your thoughts on the subject matter would be very much appreciated.

We understand that, yet again, the Croatian/Slovenian marina industries have improved on their previous years performance. You are no doubt, once again, preparing plans for improvements to your existing facilities for next season and I hope some of the information below may be of interest and assistance to you.

Rolec Services- Rolec have now released their class 1 miniature kWh meter to be sold individually. The range available is 16-63 Amp single phase and 63-250 Amp 3 phase. Now you no longer need to replace your service bollards in order to be able to meter electrical consumption. Prices available on request.
Also please note that Rolec and MFS are aware of at least one other organisation claiming to represent Rolec. As the exclusive agent for Croatia/Slovenia, only MFS has access to the most competitive prices and the full back up and support of the manufacturers.

The Yacht Leg and Cradle Company manufacture boat stands specifically designed to withstand the hurricane conditions experienced annually in the Caribbean, we can supply the same here.
